Psoriasis is a skin disorder that can resemble other skin diseases so therefore it is important to get a proper diagnosis before embarking on some form of treatment.
So what are some of the telltale signs of psoriasis that we can get? First you should know that there are different types of psoriasis so therefore there will be different symptoms for each one. Symptoms also vary from person to person. Following are some of the common signs or symptoms of psoriasis:

  • Burning, itching, dry, cracked skin that bleeds.
  • Pus-filled blisters over red areas
  • Silvery, white scales on the scalp
  • Shedding of scales of skin.
  • Pitting of fingernails or toenails
  • Red and scaly skin over large areas of the body.
  • Nail thickening
  • Yellow-brown spots on the nails
  • Separation of the nail from its base
  • Dents on the nail surface



Symptoms may be sudden and severe, long term or somewhere in between. Psoriasis symptoms can show up for no apparent reason and also disappear for no apparent reason. Because of the not so pretty appearance of psoriasis some sufferers suffer from anxiety and depression also.

Identifying the symptoms of psoriasis plays a crucial role in determining the course of treatment one will follow. The primary goal of treatment is to control the psoriasis therefore preventing secondary infections.
